As you may or may not know, I have a slight (major) obsession with Disney World. It’s one of my favorite places to visit. Definitely in my top three, for sure. Any time I have a say in where we go for a family vacation, it typically includes a Disney park. For a while now I’ve been wanting to start a blog series where I talk about my favorite and least favorite rides, best places to eat, and more Disney World tips. To start out, here’s a post with a countdown of my opinion on the five best rides at Epcot. Not intentionally, all of my favorite rides are located in Future World which is the first half of the park before you get to the World Showcase.
5! The Sum Of All Thrills
This ride is one that for whatever reason, I never hear anything about. It’s in the Innoventions building at Epcot which I guess not many people go in. Or maybe everyone knows about it and I’m just living under a rock. This ride allows you to design your own roller coaster and then sit in a simulation-arm-hand-shaped-robot-thing (pictured below) that twirls, flips, and twists and makes you feel like you’re actually riding the coaster you designed. The only reason that this isn’t higher on my list is because the tight pods did make me feel a little claustrophobic.
4! The Seas With Nemo And Friends
Pretty self-explanatory why this ride is in my top five. Everyone loves Finding Nemo and this ride is adorable. Finding Nemo is one of my favorite Disney movies and it’s definitely one that I’ve seen quite a few times. You sit in a big pink seashell and go into an underwater-themed world surrounded by characters from the film. After the ride ends, there is an actual aquarium that you can visit.
3! Living With The Land
I have a feeling that no one would put this ride in their top five except for me. It’s kind of a boring ride. You board a small boat and it takes you around a greenhouse while you get to look at a lot of different plants and learn how food is grown. I just find it to be so pretty and relaxing – a nice break from the craziness of the rest of the park. It never has a long wait time which is another plus.
2! Soarin’
Hands down one of the best rides ever. It almost was my first place pick but I’ll explain why it wasn’t down below. It’s honestly so hard to explain this ride to someone who’s never been on it before. It’s a hang-gliding simulator where you fly over various scenic views. Just trust me and go on it if you’ve never been on it before and keep it a surprise by not watching a YouTube video first. It’s incredible and I don’t have the words to accurately describe what it’s feels like as the floor drops out from beneath you.
1! Test Track
It was a tough choice but Test Track beat out Soarin’. I just really like the thrill of the ride. When the car goes outside, it goes from a slow speed to an almost immediate 65 mph. It doesn’t sound like much but when it picks up speed that fast it’s pretty exhilarating and fun.
Hope you enjoyed! Let me know your favorite Epcot rides down below.

I would think Soarin’ would be up there if they actually had HD video with the whole thing. I can’t believe that as much money as Disney has they couldn’t spring for either HD or maybe even IMAX. The effect was really cool, but it could have been so much better.
And number #3????? Really? Spaceship Earth trounces that.
LikeLike
I was gonna mention the whole HD thing but it really didn’t bother me as much as it seems to bother you. There are rumors that they are getting a new video in 2016 though. Spaceship Earth is pretty cool, I kind of overlooked that one for some reason.

Wow, Spaceship Earth as #1? I think my problem is that I kind of forget what that ride is like. I need to go on it again!

Maybe yeah. I think I’d take your top 5 in any order really. Soarin’ is obviously amazing but they’re all good for different reasons and which one I put at #1 probably depends on what mood I’m in

I’ve only ever been to Disneyland in Hong Kong, of all places, during a vacation a couple of years ago. Your article gave me some pointers about where I should go if I visit the Disneyland. I’m a little scared about Mickey and his gang jumping me, though, and forcing me to have my picture taken with them against my will. 😦

How do you like the one in Hong Kong? The characters at Disney World never do that! That’s only in places like Hollywood and New York City and stuff. I’d be terrified of that as well because I hate people dressed in costumes haha 🙂

It was pretty small but fun. My children were probably 10-ish and 6-ish then, so about the right age to enjoy it.
The only downside, really, was Mickey, who seemed to be chasing us around the park demanding we take his photograph.

I went to Disney World in 8th grade and it was unfortunately dated. I’m excited to see the new developments and would love to visit to see the upgrades! The Nemo ride looks awesome and I’d be all over that! 🙂

What an absolutely wonderful post, this has left me feeling very happy and nostalgic, 10 years ago I visited Epcot for the first time with my family and is still some of the happiest memories I have. The feeling that going to Disney World give you is something that you can never actually explain to anyone else, no matter how old you are you will enjoy it! The Test Track was my favourite ride by far!! I want to go back now!!! haha xx

Wow, thanks so much for your kind comment! I know the feeling. Even after a couple months of not being at Disney I’m itching to go back so badly! I would start a blog solely dedicated to Disney if I could, but I just have too many other topics I want to cover as well! I’ll 100% be doing more Disney posts in the near future though because I am obsessed so stay tuned! 🙂

I just found your blog and am in love. I grew up in Orlando so am also obsessed with Disney. I live in London now and so am dying to go to Disneyland Paris, but everyone tells me it’s not the same. Living with the Land has always been one of my favorites–the Mickey shaped pumpkin always gets me!

Ahh I remember Disney world fondly. It was fourth grade and I was really sick, haha. But I still remember Soarin’ being the best damn thing in the whole park. Honestly, ever since that ride, I’ve really wanted to learn how to hang glide. Maybe it’ll really happen one day.

That’s unfortunate that you were sick during your time at Disney 😦 Makes for a not-so-great trip. But so glad you agree with me about Soarin’ being incredible! I’d love to try hang-gliding one day, too.

Great list! As much as I like “The Seas with Nemo”, I wish they had animated the jellyfish forest and anglerfish sequence. The static props can take you out of the action. Lunch at the Coral Reef Restaurant is a must afterwards 😀
